Adders

We had great views of the Adders, some were easy to spot, others less so. We counted a dozen of these beautiful snakes - what a privelege!

Common Lizard

It was nice to find 2 of these this last weekend, this one was very confiding!

Barn Owl

On our way out Sunday morning we came across 2 Barn Owl, this one perched nicely for us as we slowly reversed the car to get a bit closer! A nice start to the day for us!

Willow Tit

Sadly a declining species with just a few strongholds in our area. Such a lovely little bird with a call that always brings a smile! I caught up with this bird at MSQ, it was busy and noisily collecting spiders etc from the reeds in the afternoon gloom

Treecreeper

Not an easy bird to catch up with as they flit quickly from tree to tree. I was pleased to capture this little mouse like bird!

Crossbills

We have always "dipped out" on reported Crossbill and they were on our wish list, luckily for us we had great views of around 30 on our visit to Laughton Forest. We were delighted!

Nice Birds!

Had an enjoyable morning despite not ideal weather. The Robin was full of the joys of Spring, singing at the top of its voice, the little Wren was very confiding and the Marsh Harrier showed very well. I also had a Chiffchaff singing but no photo as it was tucked away in the vegetation.

This kestrel came within feet of me on a dark and dingy afternoon hence not the best of photos!

This male bird only gave brief views.

Lancashire Wild Birds

These are photos of wild birds at both Martin Mere and RSPB Marshside. Wigeon, Ruff, GS Woody and Greylags

Just around the corner...

..... Spring!! Although it was a murky, miserable day weatherwise, signs of Spring abounded, Mallards mating, Long Tailed Tits collecting nesting material and Blue Tits checking out nesting boxes. Lots of Snowdrops are out now too! Also here is a Mute Swan

Stonechat etc

This confiding little chap was a pleasure to photograph on my recent visit to Waters Edge Country Park. Also shown here are a strutting Greylag Goose and a Meadow Pipit
