Far Ings 30/9/06

Nice sunny day. Little Grebe shown here, also Small Copper butterfly and also a painted lady. Also a cheeky little rabbit!

Goldfinch-juvenile

This little chap hit our kitchen window today and almost knocked himself out! I brought him inside and didnt think he would live> I popped him in a box lined with kitchen paper and placed him in the airing cupboard where it was warm and dark so he could recover. After about an hour, I checked on him and was delighted that he was flapping about so I opened the window and off he flew!! I was jumping for joy! So glad we were about when it happened , im sure a neighbourhood cat would have had him!

FAR INGS 28/9/06

Great few hours, no kingfisher today but still plenty to see. Sparrowhawk(x3) and two young foxes, quite a distance away so had to crop photos but still a nice record. Lots of berries on the trees and bushes, the winter migrants will have plenty to go at! The teasels are coming into their own now, Goldfinches in abundance on them. Hope to get some even better pics soon as we have purchased a new SLR camera - watch this space!!!!
