More Goan Birds

Here is an assortment of other birds we observed in Goa. Jungle Babbler, Crimson Sunbird, Indian Cormorant, Ashy Prinia and Asian Brown Flycatcher

Mugger(Marsh) Crocodiles

We saw about 8 wild Muggas on our trip down the river in Goa and also two individuals were observed on Carambolim Lake.

Plum Headed Parakeet

We saw many species of Parakeet, usually flying over but on the outskirts of Dona Paula we came across a party of 4 Plum Headed.

Oriental Magpie Robin

We had good views of these on most days.

Water Buffalo

These were quite a common sight

Common Jezebel

Arguably the most beautiful butterfly we encountered in Goa. When flying they appear black and white but once perched - wow! Stunning and very dainty butterflies!

Large CuckooShrike

We saw this species only the once, in the small woodland bordering Carambolim Lake.

Little SpiderHunter

After only glimpsing one of these birds during our visits to the jungle at some distance, we were lucky enough to come across this close up bird at Bondla

Heart Spotted Woodpecker

One of our favourite birds of the trip, although difficult to capture as very quick and always quite high up in the canopy. A delightful little bird!

Black Rumped Flameback Woodpecker

We were lucky to come across this quite confiding beauty in the forest at Bondla.

Purple Heron

We had a view good sightings of these large herons on our visit to Goa

Smew (and Redwing)

This drake Smew is still around on the patch. Lots of Redwing also but very flighty!!

Sunny Winters Day

Out in the sunshine for a few hours but very cold! This fox enjoyed sunbathing! Also 2 Bearded Tits passed by, quite a distance away though.

A Winters Day

A visit to our local country park today saw us catch up with these common but delightful birds.
