Autumnal Day

Lovely sunny autumn day today, I was pleased to catch up with these Siskins and also a confiding Goldfinch. The Sparrowhawk surprised me, only got this record shot.

Grey Heron

This heron didnt see me until the last minute so I was able to get quite a close shot of it.

Bittern

I was lucky enough to spot this bittern climbing the reeds, it was quite a way off but I had good views for about ten mins.

Young Grey Squirrel

There were two youngsters entertaining me today, chasing each other very close to me, this pic is full frame, pity the sun behind it!

Derbyshire Dipper

We have just had a weekend in Derbyshire for a big family get-together, didnt get out birding very much and the weather left a lot to be desired! Cold windy and drizzly! Managed to see lots of Dippers, Grey Wagtails, influxes of Redwing and Fieldfare, a least a dozen kestrel etc. Only got these few photos of Dipper in dire conditions.

Sunny Day

Lots of sun today for a change, although not many things stayed still enough to photograph. Here is a record shot of a male Bearded Tit (it was at quite a distance), a Migrant Hawker dragonfly and a Tortoiseshell butterfly

Great light makes a difference! Had a few hours with these amazing birds
